James Ashton

James is a highly experienced organisational development specialist, leadership consultant, and entrepreneur. Over his career, he has built and led organisations focused on strengthening leadership capability and organisational performance. Today, through ReSolve: Resolution Intelligence, he combines behavioural science and advanced assessment to help organisations make sharper, evidence-based people decisions.

With a Master’s degree in Organisational Psychology (University of Cape Town) and Master Certified Coach accreditation (Middlesex University), James has developed a strong reputation for his work with senior leaders and executive teams. His expertise spans leadership development, succession planning, executive coaching, conflict resolution, and team performance. To deepen his practice, he trained for five years in Gestalt psychotherapy and undertook doctoral research into entrepreneurial activation.

James advises Boards and senior executives on strategic people issues, particularly in identifying, developing, and retaining leadership talent. He has extensive experience in designing and applying blended assessment methodologies to ensure the best-fit, lowest-risk appointments to critical roles. His current focus includes building robust, competency-based frameworks and standardised assessment tools such as the Effective Leader Index and the ReSolve: Resolution Intelligence platform. These innovations reflect his commitment to bringing scientific clarity and rigour to organisational decision-making.

A specialist in behaviour activation, James explores the central question: “If most people want their lives to improve, why do so few make that intention happen?” He applies this thinking across leadership, entrepreneurship, education, and coaching, with a consistent record of unlocking potential and driving measurable performance improvement.

James’s career reflects not only depth of knowledge and technical expertise but also a sustained record of delivery for organisations and individuals seeking meaningful transformation.
